Turkish, Saudi Diplomats Discuss Gaza Crisis
During the discussion, Hakan Fidan and Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud explored ongoing initiatives aimed at establishing a "cease-fire" within the Palestinian region.
The dialogue also encompassed diplomatic groundwork for forthcoming international engagements centered on the Palestinian cause.
Among the anticipated events, the two ministers highlighted the upcoming 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which is scheduled to be convened in Istanbul, Türkiye, on June 21–22.
This summit will place particular emphasis on collaborative strategies related to the situation in Gaza.
Violence reignited on March 18, when the Israeli military resumed its offensive on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of 4,821 individuals and leaving 15,535 wounded.
This renewed assault nullified a previously established "ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement" that had been in effect since January.
In a major legal development, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest orders last November for Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing allegations of "war crimes and crimes against humanity" in Gaza.
Simultaneously, Israel is under legal scrutiny at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), where it is currently facing charges of genocide over its military campaign in the besieged territory.
