Egyptian FM phones Iranian FM, IAEA director to resolve nuclear issue
In his discussion with Araghchi, Abdelatty stressed the urgency of resuming negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program, calling it “the optimal path to building trust and reducing tensions,” according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
Abdelatty also highlighted the importance of maintaining regional security through diplomatic dialogue and negotiated outcomes.
In a separate call with IAEA chief Grossi, the Egyptian minister reaffirmed Egypt’s strong support for the agency’s role in nuclear verification under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to preserving the treaty’s credibility as a foundation of the global non-proliferation framework.
Abdelatty also underlined the need to consolidate the ceasefire between Iran and Israel and to prioritize diplomacy in addressing nuclear concerns.
Grossi, in turn, praised Egypt’s constructive role in promoting peace and regional stability.
