Explosive ordnance blast kills one person in Iran

(MENAFN) According to reports, an explosion caused by leftover munitions from the recent 12-day conflict with Israel killed one person and wounded seven others in Iran’s western Lorestan province.

The blast occurred Tuesday evening in the city of Beyranshahr. Authorities confirmed that the victims included children and teenagers, all of whom were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials also noted that the number of those injured may rise.

The incident is linked to the intense fighting earlier this summer, when Israeli air raids struck numerous sites across Iran on June 13, targeting military facilities, nuclear centers, senior commanders, scientists, and civilians. Iran retaliated with successive missile and drone strikes on Israeli territory, resulting in casualties and destruction.

The hostilities came to a halt on June 24, when a ceasefire between the two countries was put into place after nearly two weeks of escalations.
