Turkish Central Bank Reserves Surge to Record USD218.2B

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s official international reserves surged to an unprecedented $218.2 billion by Jan. 30, fresh data from the Turkish Central Bank disclosed Thursday.

Total reserves climbed 1.2%—adding $2.54 billion—from the prior week's $215.6 billion level, the institution reported.

Foreign currency holdings in convertible currencies contracted 2.4% to $76.6 billion compared to the previous weekly figure.

Conversely, the bank's gold reserves—encompassing gold deposits and gold-swapped assets—jumped 3.4% to $133.8 billion during the identical timeframe.

Combined IMF reserve positions and special drawing rights also edged up 0.2%, reaching $7.8 billion.

This represents the third occasion since mid-January that the Turkish Central Bank's reserves have established a new peak. On Jan. 16, the institution's reserves crossed the $200 billion threshold for the first time in history.
