Arab Interior Ministers Decry Israeli Death Penalty Law for Palestinians

(MENAFN) Arab interior ministers issued strong criticism on Wednesday against Israel’s recently enacted law that imposes the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners, describing it as a dangerous escalation and a breach of international law.

In a statement concluding the 43rd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, conducted via videoconference, the ministers argued that the law underscores Israel’s ongoing violations against Palestinians and cautioned that it would exacerbate regional tensions.

They also condemned what they termed Iran’s “unjustified” attacks on Gulf nations, labeling them a serious violation of international law and a direct threat to both regional and global peace. The statement expressed full support for the countries affected and endorsed any self-defense measures they implement.

Additionally, the ministers denounced Israel’s continued occupation of Palestinian and Arab lands since 1967 and reaffirmed their support for Lebanon’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, emphasizing that weapons should remain under the control of official state institutions.
