Iran Warns US Forces of Retaliation in Case of Ground Invasion

(MENAFN) Iran has warned that it would strike US military bases and American vessels if Washington were to launch a ground invasion of the country, according to a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Ali Fadavi, who heads the advisory group to the IRGC commander-in-chief, issued the warning Sunday night during an appearance on Iranian state television.

“If the Americans launch a ground attack, then we will target every location related to the Americans, American bases and every vessel related to the Americans,” he said.

Fadavi said the US is familiar with the use of military force, arguing that Americans “understand missiles hitting their warships” and “missiles hitting their bases.”

He further claimed that Iran is producing military equipment faster than it is being consumed, saying the country’s military capabilities are considerably stronger than during the previous two wars.

Addressing the Strait of Hormuz, Fadavi said Iran and Oman should establish and enforce regulations for the strategic waterway. He added that rules had already been developed and were currently being put into effect.

The IRGC official also cautioned that US ships could come under Iranian attack if Washington sends additional vessels to the region.
